The 2009 Rendezvous at Port Colborne, ON, got underway on Saturday, July 11. It was not one to be missed. Our GLCC volunteers and the local community did much to make it a great success, and the program was filled with varied and exciting activities, many of which were new additions. Highlights included a visit to Niagara Falls, and the near-by Welland Canal.

As of next September, 2009, boat operators in Canada will be required to have an "Operator Card," as evidence of knowledge of boat operation. US cruisers staying more than 44 days in Canada will have to have the Canadian Card or a similar "license" from their home states. A new, very sharp water plant has invaded the Trent-Severn Waterway. Since it spreads downstream easily, it may find its way into Georgian Bay and Lake Ontario. News story here...
