Member Benefits & Discounts

In addition to our comprehensive collection of harbor reports, the numerous social and cruising events we sponsor each year, and the extensive list of Port Captains available to consult and assist you as you cruise, the Great Lakes Cruising Club also seeks to provide additional club membership value through arrangements with various marine-related services. Following is a list of services presently providing discounts or other benefits to GLCC members. Click on the association names to visit their individual websites:

  • America’s Great Loop Cruiser’s Association (AGLCA): GLCC members are entitled to receive special discounted pricing on AGLCA membership. Click here to access GLCC’s AGLCA discount code. Click here to see what they offer!

  • Anchor Bay Yachting Association (ABYA): GLCC is a member of ABYA, which offers safety materials, meetings and other services. The ABYA is non-profit organization which supports the various Marine Sheriffs, primarily located in the South East corner of the State of Michigan, in the Anchor Bay Region of Lake St. Clair, between Lake Huron and Lake Erie.

  • Chartering Discounts for GLCC Members: Click this link for information about exciting discounts for charters on the Great Lakes and Worldwide when booking through Superior Charters. 

  • Desmond Marine:  GLCC members will receive one free night of wallside dockage (subject to availability and only if the GLCC burgee is flying on arrival) and additional overnight dockage at a rate of $1 USD / foot. GLCC members will receive a fuel discount of 5¢ USD per gallon up to 500 gallons and 7¢ USD per gallon over 500 gallons. 810-982-3990. Fuel Dock 810-982-9610 Desmond Marine monitors channels 9 and 16. 

  • GLCC Group Marine Insurance: Special group insurances with discounts are available to GLCC members. There are three programs available for GLCC members. Remember to ask for the Great Lakes Cruising Club member discounts.

    The insurance program for boats in Canada is through the following:  Canadian members brokered by MD Marine Insurance. Call 1-877-627-4633 or visit www.mdmarine.ca/glcc .

  • Good Old Boat Introductory Magazine Subscription: Click this link for a description of this member benefit offer by the folks at Good Old Boat magazine. Good Old Boat focuses on do-it-yourself boaters who own and maintain cruising boats, whether passage makers, coastal cruisers, or those cruising local lakes. The magazine publishes information on refit projects, upgrades, and routine maintenance owners perform to make their boats more comfortable and seaworthy.  

  • Great Lakes Cruising Club School (GLCCSchool): Click this link to an intermediate web page listing the on-line GLCCSchool webinars currently open for registration, along with the associated GLCC member codes for obtaining discounted course registration rates. The page also contains a link which will take you to the GLCCSchool to browse and register for upcoming courses.

  • Inter-Lake Yachting Association (I-LYA): GLCC is a member of I-LYA and the I-LYA is primarily located in the Detroit River and Lake Erie. I-LYA was organized to encourage, advance, promote, and perpetuate among amateurs, yachting, sail, powerboat, and other amateur aquatic competition, and to unify the rules in connection therewith; to encourage and to promote amateur yachting activities among the members of I-LYA and yachting associations throughout the United States and Canada. GLCC members may click here to go to the I-LYA homepage where you can view or subscribe to receive the I-LYA newsletter.

  • Mariners Learning System USCG Licensing Courses: Click this link for information about GLCC Member Discounts on a suite of six US Coast Guard-approved online captain’s licensing courses, from “six pack” to master 25/50/100 ton licenses. All classes can be taken online in the comfort of home or on the road and at your own pace.

  • United States Power Squadrons (USPS): The United States Power Squadrons (USPS) are making selected courses available over the web through BoatUS. The USPS is making these classes available to GLCC members at the same discount they offer USPS members. Click discount procedures for links to the USPS online course registration page and instructions on how to register for classes and obtain your discount.

  • Yachting Club of America (YCA): GLCC's membership in YCA provides reciprocity with other YCA member clubs. The Yachting Club of America was founded in 1963 as the first National Association of Yacht Clubs. The founding principles set forth by the Board of Governors and Founding Members were designed "to serve the advancement of Yachting." The Yachting Club of America represents over 300,000 members of YCA registered Yacht & Sailing Clubs in America. The Yachting Club of America is recognized by Embassies throughout the world and are helpful to YCA members. Over 700 YCA Registered Yacht & Sailing Clubs are listed in their American Register of Yacht Clubs. GLCC members signed-in on the GLCC Club website should click here to obtain the ID and password to fully access the YCA website and to obtain a printable YCA reciprocal membership card.
