We are happy to announce 2 new Harbor Reports For Lake Michigan.  In the Lake Michigan Overview section, you'll find report M-00 Lake Michigan Overview and M-00.1 Commnications and Weather - Crossing lake Michigan.  The reports were written by Lou Bruska and Marilyn Kinsey with editing help from Jim Wooll.  Marilyn was the sole author of M-00.1, we thank her for the report.  These two reports were created with next year's Rendezvous in Sturgeon Bay in mind. Fellow Great Lakes Cruising Club member Dennis Bailey of Drummond Island, Mich. NC-1 (link available to GLCC members), and owner of a TowBoatU.S. vessel was recently featured in an article in the BoatU.S. May 25, 2016 publication. Running a search on the last name "Rohde" via the Great Lakes Cruising Club homepage happens to bring up a lengthy list of hits for this prolific couple. Please join us in welcoming Tim Boehlke, our recently appointed Rear Commodore for Region 27 - Lake Michigan Southeast. Tim and his wife Becki joined the GLCC in 2001 and currently reside in Goshen, Indiana. They own two boats; POKEY, a 48-foot Mirage and TERRAPIN is their 42-foot Florida Coaster. Tim is long-established in helping the GLCC. Please join me in welcoming Director & Port Captain Vern Meyer as our new Port Captain Coordinator, replacing Director and Port Captain Bill Matley. I certainly appreciate Bill’s energy and contribution during his three years of leadership in that position. Vern is currently a Director and Port Captain for Charlevoix (M-6) and East Jordan (M-6.5), and also the 2011 recipient of the prestigious William J. In welcoming newly appointed Deputy Port Captain Michael Brookins for Kelleys Island, Ohio (E-17), here's a little about him and his boating experiences:  Growing up on the water, I was introduced to boating at a very young age. I learned to drive our family’s Boston Whaler in my pre-teen years and owned a 19-foot Boston Whaler by the time I was 16 years old. Our family took many long distance cruises through Lake Erie, Lake Huron, the North Channel, Georgian Bay, Lake Michigan and Lake Ontario — it was during our many long distance cruises in my teenage years that I learned to pilot my family’s larger boats.
