Litttle Current Aerial Photos

High winds out of the west and very low ceilings prevented taking the aerial photos of the Rendezvous as planned.  However a break in the weather occured Tuesday when the winds died and the heavy overcast started to break up.  Fortunately we were able to take off from the Manitoulin East Airport and make a few passes along the waterfront from the west to the east.  The proximity of the swing bridge and the large transmission towers just east of the bridge ruled out any low flying. See a larger version of the photo here...

As a photographer you had to choose between using a telephoto lens which provided great close ups of a few of the ninety or so boats at the Rendezvous, or change to a wide angle lens which covered the waterfront,  but provided little detail about each boat.  In the end your photographer chose the wide angle and the safe approach to flying along the waterfront,   This entailed providing maximum power and a quick climb up over the bridge and the power lines after passing the OPP garage.

Here is a copy of one of the photos.  In the next few weeks a greater selection of the aerial shots will be placed on line for you to download.  They will all be in high resolution which means you will be able to enlarge them and crop them to get the photo you want.
