Sunset at Turnbull Harbour - G. Daniel DeWeese

As Spring is finally arriving at many parts of the Great Lakes, we can now look forward to the start of the boating season. Now is a great time to plan your summer cruising itineraries.

One of the great things about being part of the GLCC is there are so many opportunities to explore new cruising areas and catch up with or meet GLCC members. Club members are welcoming and supportive for newer cruisers looking for support or buddy boating.

Don’t forget, the Harbor Reports are incredibly helpful in planning cruising and determining distances between harbors. The 120 GLCC Port Captains are happy to answer questions, provide local knowledge (i.e., best anchorages, marine repairs, transportation, dining, veterinary care, etc.) to help make your stay a memorable event.

Have you checked out the GLCC Events Page? It is a great place to get updates on all that is planned through the club. This summer’s events span Lake Erie, Lake Michigan, Lake Ontario and the North Channel with more to be added.

There are two flotillas planned, before and after the Rendezvous in Escanaba. Flotillas are a great way to meet up with GLCC members and buddy boat across Lake Michigan.

A Cruise Down Lake Michigan leaves Escanaba after the Rendezvous and journeys along Michigan’s western side to Muskegon and returns north.

This year’s Wilderness Rally starts with a Cruiser’s Net Potluck Dinner in Little Current, Ont. (NC-17), hosted by GLCC Honorary Member Roy Eaton and then departs for McGregor Bay, Ont. (NC-84).
