Your Club has great plans for Spring and Summer ’26
As Spring arrives, so does our annual April Launch, April 10-12 in Grand Bend, ON. This is a great opportunity for pre-season socializing, cocktail receptions and dinner, our quarterly board meeting, a visit to Lambton County Heritage Museum to understand the influence of Lake Huron and, for those interested in pre-season competition, a race with professional go karts at the Grand Bend Speedway. All are welcome!
This year's cruising calendar includes the Great Lakes Cruising Club’s annual Rendezvous. This year’s Rendezvous is on Lake Superior, with rallies enroute at Mackinac Island and Sault Ste. Marie.
If you're planning to join a Club-organized flotilla, be sure to watch the flotilla planning presentation put together by Rear Commodore Dee McClure. It's an excellent resource for day-tripping your way to the Rendezvous and rallies. Thanks also to Rear Commodores Rob Hillman and Dave Spencer, and Port Captain Mark Wild, for their contributions to the webinar. It's free to members and available now on the GLCCSchool website. Additional rallies across all the Lakes are in the works. Stay tuned to the GLCC website for details.
Speaking of the GLCCSchool: another outstanding season is wrapping up, with more than 1,400 attendees taking classes this year. The GLCCSchool is one of our club's finest and most valuable benefits, and it wouldn't be possible without the dedication of Mark Gagyi and the entire GLCCSchool team. Thank you all.
This Club is at its best when we look out for one another, on the water and off. If you spot a fellow member struggling at the dock, lend a hand. If someone new looks unsure, introduce yourself. That's the spirit that makes this community special.
We also have some exciting membership news: We welcomed nearly 65 new members this past winter, thanks to outstanding efforts at the Toronto Boat Show and the work of our membership and digital marketing committees. Momentum matters: a growing club is a vibrant club. We all have a role to play in keeping it going.
We can't wait to see you out on the water. Here's to fair winds, calm following seas, and many wonderful miles ahead on the greatest freshwater sailing grounds in the world.
Warm regards and following seas
