This week in the GLCCSchool Ric Mixter presents fascinating stories from his book Bottled Goodbyes, which chronicles the most famous messages found in bottles all around the world. Among other stories Ric will share how his research found three messages from the Titanic and an abandoned message from Christopher Columbus.
Ric’s presentation will also feature over a dozen Great Lakes messages from the infamous 1913 Storm and from famous ships like the Bannockburn and Rouse Simmons.

Ric Mixter logs thousands of miles each year as one of the most requested Great Lakes historians. From archive footage to new underwater images of shipwrecks, Ric’s moving picture library is unmatched. He has written dozens of articles and has hosted over 30 shows on PBS stations airing all around the Midwest and Canada. He’s even been featured as an expert on the Discovery and History Channels. Despite all his professional accomplishments, Ric says his greatest productions are his three kids, all of whom are certified divers.
