By Tom Monks, Port Captain, Duncan Bay, MI (H-74.5)

I am a retired lieutenant with the Detroit Fire Department. My wife, Loretta, is a retired account manager in the automotive industry. We have been avid boaters, both power and sail, for 30 years.

We spent many years roaming the Lake St. Clair area including the St. Clair Flats and Harsens Island in our cabin cruiser before we started sailing. The Port Huron Yacht Club is one of our home ports where we have enjoyed club racing and many regattas.

While cruising the Michigan side of Lake Huron, we were fortunate to have the GLCC as a resource, making our cruise planning a breeze. I cannot say enough about the wealth of great information the Club provides including the Harbor Reports and interesting webinars.

Cheboygan’s Duncan Bay Boat Club is our “Up North” home base where we spend much of the summer on our Hunter 40.5. We look forward to serving as Port Captains for Duncan Bay and hope to meet our GLCC members in their travels.
