Meet the new Port Captain for Sheboygan, WI

Tim Corkell is the new Port Captain of Sheboygan, WI. (M-48).

Tim grew up sailing out of Chicago’s Belmont Harbor. He has more than 50 years of boating experience on the Great Lakes, as well as on the Pacific and Atlantic oceans. 

He is an avid racer, participating in regattas throughout North America including the Transpac Race (Los Angeles to Honolulu). Not only that, but he also has raced in 47 Chicago-to-Mackinac Island races, and 25 Port Huron-to-Mackinac Island races. 

His extensive cruising experience on Lake Michigan and Lake Huron began on his family’s 30-foot sailboat in the early 1970s.

Tim and his wife, Mary, own a 1999 Tartan 4100 cruising sailboat Banshee, and are partners in a 1986 Express 37 racing sailboat Banshee VIII and a 2008 SeaPro 196 CC Powerboat Manatee.

The couple lives in Cape Coral, FL. In the past several years, they have been able to enjoy five to six weeks of cruising Lake Michigan, Lake Huron, and the North Channel aboard the Banshee.

Tim is a member of the Sheboygan Yacht Club. He is a board member and treasurer of the Sheboygan Youth Sailing Club. Other memberships include the Island Goat Sailing Society, the Society of Bayview Mackinac Old Goats, and the Double Goat Honor Roll.

He has a Merchant Mariner credential: 50 Ton Masters – Great Lakes and Inland Waters, OUPV Near Coastal Waters.
