From Little Current to Detroit: Something for everyone

In case you haven’t heard, the 2025 Rendezvous agenda has something everyone can enjoy. The Rendezvous, going on as this month’s Lifeline was published, was planned by Port Captains Debbie and Jib Turner, along with Vice Commodore Craig Shantz. That agenda included dinghy poker runs, optional excursions to an archaeological site, a lavender field, and a winery, and more.

Karen and I look forward to seeing all you Rendezvous participants at the Commodore Dinner on Wednesday night, July 16. We also will unveil a GLCC Anniversary Plaque commemorating our 1965 Little Current Rendezvous.

Look for a full write-up of the Rendezvous in our next Lifeline edition in September, as we are giving the Lifeline team some time in August off to enjoy boating and their summer holidays.

Looking further ahead, the GLCC will have its 2025 General Membership meeting the weekend of Oct. 10–12 in southeast Michigan. The co-chairs for the membership meeting event are Mark Lifter and Rob Hillman. Look for more details soon, but they are building what looks to be a great event in Detroit, with a featured private event in the Dossin Marine Museum on Detroit’s unique Belle Isle.

I wish you fair winds and following seas, and encourage you to stay safe on the water.

Joe
