Great Lakes boaters have only just finished hauling their boats out for that long winter’s nap and already it’s time to be planning for the winter boat show season. The Great Lakes Cruising Club will again have a highly visible presence at the 68th edition of the Toronto International Boat Show from Saturday, Jan. 17 to Sunday, Jan. 25, 2026.

The Club has attended the Toronto show for more than 20 years. Club members will be there again this January, greeting long-time friends and welcoming new ones at the Club’s centrally located booth in Toronto’s enormous Enercare Centre at Exhibition Place.

More about the GLCC’s participation in the show will be in the December edition of Lifeline and on the GLCC website.

But this advance notice is important for three reasons:

1.    We need volunteers from our club to staff our booth. Staffing the GLCC booth is fun and easy. Volunteers also receive an Exhibitor Pass that allows free access to all nine days of the show. Please contact Rear Commodore Dave Spencer (spencerdd@gmail.com) if you’re able to volunteer.

2.    The boat show has negotiated excellent rates at four high-quality Toronto hotels for bookings made up to Jan. 2, 2026 or when all rooms are filled. Use this link to see the hotels and the rates (which, of course, are all in Canadian dollars).  Don’t delay on making reservations, as the hotel blocks fill up quickly.

3.    Thanks to Cynthia Sunstrum, the Club will have its third annual Toronto International Boat Show Meet-up and Dinner on Friday, Jan. 23, at the National Yacht Club, only about a mile away from the boat show venue. Put this date in your calendar and watch the website and Lifeline for more details on this fun gathering.
