2025 embodied spirt of teamwork and adventure
I cannot help but note that every 2025 GLCC event showcased the spirit of teamwork and adventure that defines our membership, from the early spring shakedown cruise events, our mid-season Rendezvous in Little Current, Ont. and our terrific Annual Meeting in Grand Rapids last month. Perhaps we’ve weathered a few squalls, but I know we also enjoyed plenty of sunshine and created memories that will carry us through the winter ahead.
A heartfelt thank you goes out to everyone who volunteered their time and energy this year — organizing rallies, the Rendezvous and meetups, updating our Harbor Reports, hosting dockside socials, or simply lending a helping hand when another boat needed it. Your efforts keep our club thriving and our community strong.
As we haul out and tuck our boats in for the off-season, let’s not let the camaraderie fade. Our winter gatherings, GLCCSchool, and off-season social events are wonderful opportunities to stay connected, share stories, and perhaps start planning next season’s adventures.
I encourage you this winter to take advantage of the free GLCC webinars Mark Gagyi and the GLCCSchool team have once again put together. There is a great array of webinars for this season – each available free to GLCC members. I encourage everyone to take advantage of a class or two while our boats are put way for the winter.
I also encourage you to make plans if you can, to attend the Toronto International Boat Show this January and join Karen and I, along with event hosts Eric and Cynthia Sunstrum and Dave and Kathy Spencer, for dinner at the National Yacht Club. It is always a great get together, and an excellent opportunity to visit the Toronto area.
On behalf of the entire GLCC Bridge and Board, I thank you for your support, your enthusiasm, and the laughter you bring to every event. Here’s to a safe and restful off-season — and to fair winds when we set sail again in the spring!
Warm regards,
Joe
