2020 Mackinac Island Sailboat Racing
Message from the Mackinac Island Yacht Club Regatta Committee
Dear Sailors and Friends:
We are delighted to share with you that the 2020 Mackinac Island Sailboat Racing schedule will be rolled out in its entirety. We are looking forward to getting back on the water this coming summer for some friendly and fun sailing competition.
Races will be administered under the Mackinac Island Yacht Club COVID 19 Guidelines. Guidelines will be explained in detail at the Skippers Meetings before each race.
Mackinac Island Yacht Club, along with our generous sponsors... The Pink Pony, MIssion Point Resort and Horns Bar, will be administering four great sailing events in 2020. Mark your calendars for another fabulous season of Island sailboat racing.
The race dates for 2020 are:
July 5, 2020 - Pink Pony 4th of July Race
Registration will take place at the Skippers Meeting on Sunday, July 5, 2020 at 12:00 PM EDT. Skippers will meet on the lower porch of Mackinac Island Yacht Club. The Race Start will be at 1:10 PM EDT.
The Awards party will be held immediately following the race in the back terrace of Mackinac Island Yacht Club.
July 22, 2020 - Chicago Mac - Round the Island Race
August 8, 2020 - Mission Point Mac to Mac Regatta
September 5, 2020 - Horns Bar Labor Day Regatta
Race schedules, updates and results will be posted on the Mackinac Island Yacht Club web site (www.miyachtclub.com)
2020 PHRF Certificates
ALL PARTICIPATING BOATS ARE REQUESTED TO HAVE A VALID 2020 PHRF RATING (PERFORMANCE HANDICAP RACING FACTOR RATING).
If your boat has previously secured a PHRF rating, all that is required is to renew the certificate for 2020. If your boat has not secured a PHRF rating as yet, you are requested to secure an initial rating. Both renewals and initial issuances of ratings are done through the Lake Huron PHRF Association, the designated certifying body for Mackinac Island Yacht Club races. There is no charge to secure your original or renew your PHRF rating.
If you have not secured a PHRF rating as yet, we can issue an Island Rating. If your boat has a current PHRF rating from another certifying association, it also will be honored.
The Lake Huron PHRF web site and the link to secure a new rating or renew your rating is: www.lhphrf.com. The list of vessel ratings will be emailed to you, which will include your rating.
