Today we welcome our newly appointed Port Captain for the Trent Severn Waterway, Ont. (W-6), Charlie Ellins. Charlie has been Boating from the time of his first family boat in the 1950s including considerable time on the TSW. He skippered the family cruiser from Trenton to Orillia at age 15 with his mom and two sisters. He joined the Canadian Power Squadron in 1968 and now has 51 merit marks [Life Member]. Charlie has been Commodore of the Lake Simcoe Yacht Club in 1978-1979 when there were over 200 members. He holds the Transport Canada Small Vessel Operators Certificate. He's held most duties in the Power and Sail Squadrons both in the Squadron and on the District and is currently District Membership Officer for Georgian-Trent. Charlie is a member of the USPS/America’s Boating Club in the St. Petersburg, Fla. Sail and Power Squadron with National Duties in the Instructor Development Committee. Teaching boaters is his passion. Even though retired from being a School Administrator in Ontario, Charlie finds doing some occasional supply work to be worthwhile. Please give him a warm welcome when you see him on the Waterway!
