Authored by Mark Gagyi
April 5, 2024

In the fourth webinar of the series, Advanced Diesel Diagnostic: A Conversation with a Master Mechanic, master mechanic Jim Zima digs past the benefits of regular maintenance and looks at those subtle and sometimes not so subtle smells and sounds that indicate your diesel is asking for help. Focusing on real life problems Jim will help you determine “is this something I can do or is it time to call a mechanic”.

Jim Zima is the owner of Great Lakes Diesel in Vermilion, Ohio. Jim’s first adventure on the Great Lakes was when he was just six weeks old and his parents took him along for an afternoon sail.  Since then, boats, the water and diesel engines have all been intertwined in Jim’s life. In addition to his work in diesel engine installation and repair, Jim has become a well-known diesel engine instructor. He is a regular here at the GLCCSchool and at the Cruiser’s University in Annapolis, Maryland.

The GLCCSchool’s Marine Diesel Advanced Diagnostics is available as an individual webinar or as part of the four-part Marine Diesel Maintenance Package. The includes Marine Diesel Maintenance 101, Marine Diesel Fuel Systems, Marine Diesel Cooling Systems and Advanced Diesel Diagnostics.
