On Sunday, June 12, as the finale of the 10-day Island-wide "Taste of Manitoulin Festival," the village of Meldrum Bay is holding a Spring Fair with events scheduled from 10 am to 5 pm. So far, there are over 40 exhibitors signed up for the fair, including participants from the nearby First Nations communities of Sheshegwaining and Cockburn Island. You'll be able to watch artists and artisans at work, and hear live music throughout the day. At 10 am there will be an ecumenical community worship service at the little village church, St. Andrew's United Church. Starting at 11 am, lunch will be served at the Community Hall. From 2 to 4 pm, there will be two guided tours of the scenic West End. The Meldrum Bay Inn has a special dinner starting at 5 pm, featuring Island foods; your choice of locally caught whitefish or locally raised Angus beef prime rib. Reservations for the dinner need to be made 48 hours in advance.
