Wanted: North-Channel Cruiser/Fisherperson
The GLCC Log-Book Committee is seeking a cruising fisherman/fisherwoman who can summarize suggestions for fishing while cruising the North Channel. Where to fish? What to fish for? How to fish for the fish?
What is wanted is a brief (maybe several paragraphs) summary of "how-to" for a newcomer to cruising the North Channel. This is to be included in the "Ideal North Channel Cruise" harbor report, widely read by first-timers cruising up-north.
Canadian Soo Locks Closed for 2010
The Canadian lock at the Soo will be closed for the 2010 season. Information is here. Recreational boaters will have to use the American locks.
Whitefish Point Request for Input
For many years there has been unauthorized use of Transient Slips at S-220.6 Whitefish Point by local boaters. In the 2009 season, with the help of GLCC boaters, we were able to document this unauthorized use, and this information was forwarded to those who have taken steps to rectify this problem. Ideal North-Channel Cruise
Your LogBook and Port Pilot Committee is planning to revise the harbor report, "Ideal Cruise Through the North Channel," originally written by Howard Blossom in 1969 and now becoming quite out-of-date.
All experienced North-Channel cruisers are asked to review the proposed text and offer comments and suggestions for changes. The prototype revision is here:
