The Great Lakes Marine Mobile Net will resume operations on Saturday, April 6, 2013 at 8:30 a.m. Eastern time, and will operate on on the amateur radio 40 meter and 20 meter SSB bands, with the frequencies to be finalized in the near future. A General Class or higher amateur radio license is required to operate on these bands. Boaters with a Technician Class or higher amateur radio license have the option of accessing the net from their smart phones using the Echolink app. The net will be held on Saturday and Sunday mornings at 8:30 a.m. Eastern time throughout the boating season. Although based in the Chicago area, the Net has remote servers available, allowing contacts to be made throughout the Great Lakes.
