The US Coast Guard, Homeland Security, and Department of Transportation are seeking comments from the public on use of differential GPS.
The current law establishing differential GPS and permitting it to be used by the public in addition to the military is set to expire in 2016, and public input is sought as the agencies prepare for renewal or modification of current regulations. Differential GPS provides more accurate positioning than GPS without the differential corrections.
